To whom it may concern, It is with great pleasure that I may write a reference for Darren Cleaver to support the work he has been doing on a regular basis with a particular student from our college. My name is Adam Bancroft and I am currently working with students in welfare and teaching role. Darren worked as a mentor with youth through St Joseph's Cowper homes providing therapeutic support by building rapport, showing empathy and establishing trust etc. This has allowed him to connect with a particular student at McAuley Catholic College Grafton. Darren brought a solution focused approach of helping the client to become more integrated with his peers and reduce anger working on anger management and working with the clients home life concerns. He gave the client tools in which the client could self-manage his emotions and while not becoming reliant on Darren. Darren helped the client to have better self-understanding; lower levels of defensiveness, guilt, and insecurity; more positive and comfortable relationships with others; and an increased capacity to experience and express feelings at the moment they occur.
